Dr. George W. Swan III consults with companies, entrepreneurs and non-profits to strengthen organizational performance and effectiveness. Dr. Swan has more than 39 years of experience as a senior leader in higher education and with public and private sector entities focused on community and economic development, training, workforce development, organizational development, and executive coaching.

 

Dr. Swan has worked with IT consulting groups including CYBOC, UST Global and INFOSYS, defense contractor GR77, helped to facilitate international leadership exchanges for Global Ties Detroit and the U.S. State Department sponsored Leadership Programs, led board development for national and regional organizations, and developed partnerships in disciplines including cyber security, energy efficiency and sustainability, defense, bio-medical pathways, STEM and manufacturing technology.

 

Dr. Swan earned his Doctorate in Higher Education (Administrative and Organizational Studies) with research focused on the use of Asynchronous Learning Networks at Wayne State University. He earned his Masters of Education majoring in Educational Sociology with a cognate in Administration, and a Bachelors in Communication also from Wayne State University.

 

He has been a director, advisor and strategist for more than 36 community-based and non-profit organizations since 1986. Dr. Swan served as the national Board Chair for the Child Welfare League of America, founding Board Chair for Detroit Future City Strategic Framework, current Board Chair for ARISE Detroit, founding Vice Chair for the Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation, Trustee on the Council on Accreditation, delegate to the Southeast Michigan Council on Governments Transportation Coordinating Council, director of the Detroit Local Finance Development Authority and Detroit Workforce Development Board, Trustee of the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan. 

 

Dr. Swan has served as a Peer Reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission, the oldest and largest Regional Accreditor covering a 19 state area and more than 1,200 member colleges and universities since 2007.  Dr. Swan served in leadership roles for 29 years at Wayne County Community College District.. He has served as a Principal Investigator for federally funded projects in STEM education, NASA sponsored research. 

 

He is a well-regarded lecturer, speaker and leader with a passion for helping people meet their aspirations. He is sought after for an ability to guide organizations through difficult circumstances and serve as an effective advocate in both public and private arenas.
